UMPIRE SCREENING REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the online and in-person requirements by level, umpires 18 years and older must complete additional screening requirements in order to have their Baseball Ontario umpire certification activated. Screening can be completed and tracked through your profile in our OnDeck App!
Risk CATEGORIES
Umpires are assigned a Risk Category by their Local Association as outlined below:
- Level 1 Risk - Umpires who are never alone with children or vulnerable individuals, and only interact on the field of play in the duty to the game
- Level 2 Risk – Umpires in the Baseball Canada National Umpires Program who are not Clinicians.
- Level 3 Risk – Umpire leaders (UIC’s, Clinicians, Supervisors, etc) who work with children under the age of 18.
Your screening requirements vary by your assigned Risk Category. Find your category below for a checklist of your requirements. If you are unsure of your assigned Risk Category, contact your Local Association.
